Silent Auction in June Raises $190

Through our friend Betty Alofs (www.BettyAlofs.com), Gaylon Monteverde of the Sunshine Quilters of San Diego Quilt Guild (www.SunshineQuilters.com) contacted us and offered a donation of two quilts. We graciously accepted, and when they arrived, we were thrilled. The two octagonal-shaped quilts were beautiful. One used pink flowered fabric and fabric with the pink awareness ribbon. The other was made of fabric with red hearts and roses.

The quilts arrived just two days prior to an event at which Pink Cures was to be donating items to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation. We took the quilts and put them in a silent auction at the event. At the end of the evening, we were elated to learn that the pair of quilts fetched $190 at the auction! The entire $190 was donated to Komen.

We would like to thank the creator of the quilts, Nancy Leggett, as well as Gaylon Monteverde, Betty Alofs, and the entire Sunshine Quilters organization. Your support means so much to us, and to those fighting breast cancer.

If you have items that you would like to donate to one of our events, feel free to contact us. We attend events as we learn about them. If you have an event and would like donations of earrings or other items, let us know.

Silent Auction in October Raises $475

Betty Alofs donated an amazing cat quilt, and the Sunshine Quilters of San Diego donated a tote back, breast cancer quilt and breast cancer coasters for a silent auction at Pink-A-Boo, a breast cancer fund raiser held in October at Rumors Salon in Pasadena, Maryland. The items fetched an impressive $475 for the event. All told in October, Pink Cures was able to donate $500 to Susan G. Komen.

We are ever grateful for the donations that enable us to raise money each month for breast cancer awareness.

If you would like to donate items for any upcoming events, feel free to contact us.
